MES PDC

In today’s life style, tension and anxiety are inevitable. The competitive atmosphere around us has gripped everyone including teachers, parents and also the students.

Established in the year 1860, the Maharashtra Education Society has been contributing to the field of education by providing education from kindergarten to post-graduation. The Maharashtra Education Society (MES) has been contributing to the field of education by providing schools and colleges for SSC, HSC and CBSE. MES set up a Personality Development Centre (Vyaktimattva Vikas Kendra) realizing the need to resolve mental and psychological problems in the modern world. The centre guides students, parents and teachers to tackle problems such as stress, worries. The centre also imparts study skills. It also provides career guidance.

The centre was started on 18 August 2007 under the guidance and leadership of Dr Bharat Desai, Sir. Dr H V Sardesai, Mrs Mangala Godbole, Dr S V Deshpande and Dr Vidyadhar Watave were the initial advisors to the centre. Currently the centre has been headed under the guidance of Mrs Girija Likhite.

This was the 1st and only institution in Maharashtra, started such cell. The institute is currently undertaking various activities related to Psychology and few of them are mentioned as below:-

  • Appointing full time counsellors in various schools run by MES and providing training, guidance and support to them.
  • Activities for Students: Various activities and sessions are formulated for students and their guardians. Since competition in all spheres is on the rise, students are prepared to face and combat this competitive environment. PDC Conducts `Life Skills Development Training` and `Study Skills Development` at school level. It mainly inculcates Communication Skills, Inter personal skills, Analytical Skills, Problem Solving skills and stress management skills.
  • Psychological Testing: The main focus of this cell is to provide an impetus to the personality development, abilities and emotions of the students.
  • Activities for Parent’s: The family members of the students are given counseling in order to surmount any difficulties in parenting. PDC arrange workshop on `Effective Parenting` or `Smart Parenting’.
  • Activities for teacher’s: Personality Development Centre also conducts workshops for teachers on ‘Mind Management’ that include anger, emotions and stress management.
